What is Menter Siabod? . . .

Menter Siabod Ltd. (a non-trading ‘not for profit’ voluntary organisation) was set up in 2003, when it was formed by local residents and businesses, in an effort to assist in identifying and meeting, where possible, the needs and aspirations of the Dolwyddelan community and LL25 Post Code area.
Over the years it has been a useful platform for applying for grant funding for several community projects, both for our own organisation, as well as for other community groups that promote health, wellbeing and community cohesion.
In recent years Menter Siabod’s key focus has been on the following areas:
-
Maintaining two of the main community spaces that can be used by groups and individuals. These are the Pavilion and the IT (Gwyddelan) Suite (both located near Ysgol Dolwyddelan). Both are well positioned, safely away from the main A470 that runs through the village.
-
Production and distribution of the quarterly village newsletter that is distributed free to over 290 homes in the village and surrounding area.
-
Providing donations to the Ysgol Dolwyddelan and other local groups.
-
Organising community events such as the Gŵyl Gwanwyn (Spring Festival): Afternoon Teas in the Pavilion: Christmas Fairs and History days etc..
We are still available to help with appropriate applications for funding on behalf of local community projects and groups, as most funding bodies will only consider applications from charitable organisations or registered companies like ourselves.
Moving forward we would be happy to explore any ideas or suggestions from the community.
We are a friendly group of community minded people, looking for new, enthusiastic members. We have six meetings a year (more when necessary) that last for maybe two hours - sharing ideas, suggesting improvement and generally keeping the Pavilion and IT (Gwyddelan) Suite going. This is a great way to meet other ‘Village People’, and to get involved in exciting projects that are improving our environment.

The first and biggest task undertaken was to restore an ageing football pavilion, turning it into the village meeting place for groups, tourists and the community.
